Labels applied to posts within a subreddit (Post Flair) or to user profiles within a community (User Flair) to categorize content or identify users by role, expertise, or status. Controlled by subreddit moderators.
Context
Some subreddits require post flair selection before a submission can be made — AutoModerator automatically removes posts without the required flair. Brand teams should understand available flair options and select the most appropriate one before submitting. Misapplied flair signals unfamiliarity with the community as clearly as rule-violating content.
Relevance to Reddit
Post Flair helps brand content get discovered by users filtering within a subreddit. User Flair is particularly significant — many subreddits require brand representatives to display a flair such as 'Company Rep' as a transparency signal. Obtaining and displaying the appropriate user flair before posting is both a community norm and a compliance best practice.
