Account Age
Definition
The length of time since a Reddit account was created, measured from the creation date and displayed publicly on every user's profile page.
Context
Reddit displays account age in years and months on the profile. There is also a 'cake day' tradition — the annual creation anniversary is marked with a small icon next to the username on that day. Many subreddits configure AutoModerator to reject posts from accounts under a minimum age (commonly 30–90 days), regardless of karma level.
Relevance to Reddit
Account age is one of the primary legitimacy signals communities and moderators use. New accounts beginning to post immediately — especially across multiple subreddits simultaneously — trigger spam detection and moderator suspicion. Brand accounts should be created well in advance of any planned program and accumulate genuine activity before launching targeted community participation.
