Algorithmic Priming
Definition
A Community Leverage mechanism, as defined by Karmic, in which a user's interactions with a brand subreddit give Reddit's recommendation systems a reason to surface more of that community's threads to them.
Context
Algorithmic priming works alongside psychological priming. Neither guarantees a recommendation, and neither requires asking for one; members still decide what to say and where. That independence is what makes any resulting brand mention credible.
Relevance to Reddit
Algorithmic priming is one of the two ways an owned community keeps a brand familiar to its members over time. Each upvote, comment, or subscription increases the likelihood that the member sees future threads, extending reach without additional paid spend.
