Community Crossover
Definition
The point, as defined by Karmic, at which members of a brand subreddit create more total content — threads and comments combined — than the brand does. The Crossover marks the start of the Self-Generating stage.
Context
A community can reach the Crossover through comments alone: if the brand publishes 20 threads and members leave 30 comments, members have out-created the brand even if they are not yet starting threads. Karmic tracks this separately from Self-Sustaining signals, which focus on member-created threads.
Relevance to Reddit
The Crossover is the first sign that a community is talking back rather than just receiving brand content. Quitting before reaching it is one of the most common reasons brand subreddits fail.
