Definition
In Karmic's Mention Hierarchy, an independent reference to a brand made by a member of the brand's own subreddit. It is the middle tier: indexed, ranked, and citable by search engines and AI systems.
Context
These mentions must be unprompted. Incentivizing, scripting, or requesting them violates Reddit's rules and can breach the FTC's rule on consumer reviews and testimonials, and it destroys the independence that makes them valuable.
Relevance to Reddit
Community Organic Mentions carry peer credibility rather than brand credibility, which makes them far more persuasive to readers and more useful to answer engines than a brand talking about itself.
