CPV (Cost Per View)
Definition
A pricing model for video ad formats where advertisers pay based on the number of times their video is viewed, counted after a minimum watch threshold (typically two seconds for in-feed video).
Context
Reddit counts a view after two seconds of in-feed video play. For longer-form video (15 seconds or more), tracking completion rate at multiple thresholds gives a more complete picture of audience engagement depth. High watch-through rates are a signal to increase budget on that creative; low rates suggest the creative or targeting needs adjustment.
Relevance to Reddit
CPV is the correct bidding model for video-first Reddit campaigns. Use CPV campaigns to measure actual video consumption rather than just impressions. Optimize creative for watch-through rate — the proportion of users who watch past 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% completion points.
