Definition
Reddit users who have chosen to follow a specific Reddit account, receiving content from that account in their home feed regardless of subreddit membership. The follow system was added to Reddit's profile pages in 2018.
Context
Reddit's follower system is less prominent than on other social platforms — most Reddit discovery happens through subreddit feeds rather than account following. Follower counts are not publicly displayed in the same way as on Twitter/X or Instagram. However, for brands with active owned subreddits and frequent valuable posting, followers represent a compounding owned audience that grows with account activity.
