A Reddit post whose primary content is an external URL. The post title appears as a clickable link to the external destination, and comments discuss the linked content. Link Posts drive traffic out of Reddit to external websites.
Context
Reddit's original format was primarily link-based, aggregating interesting web content for community discussion. Over time, text (self) posts became increasingly dominant as communities shifted from curation to original discussion. The balance varies significantly across subreddits — some are primarily link aggregators while others are almost exclusively self-post discussion communities.
