New Feed
Definition
A chronological content view displaying all recent submissions in reverse order, before algorithmic sorting determines their final position in the Hot or Top feeds.
Context
Moderators who actively review their subreddit often sort by New to catch rule-violating content before it gains traction. Brand posts in third-party subreddits are most likely to receive moderator attention immediately after posting. This is why rule compliance before posting — rather than posting and waiting to see what happens — is the correct operational sequence.
Relevance to Reddit
The New feed is the critical early window for brand content. Posts gaining upvotes and comments quickly here are elevated to the Hot feed, where they reach far larger audiences. Early engagement in the first 15–30 minutes of a post's life has disproportionate impact on eventual distribution.
