NewsJacking (Reddit)

>

Content Creation

Definition

A thread format, as used in Karmic's thread craft process, that uses a timely event as the entry point, adds the interpretation the headline missed, and closes by asking how the community feels about it.

Context

Strong news threads move quickly from what happened to what it signals. The term newsjacking predates Reddit and is widely used in PR; Karmic applies it specifically as a subreddit thread template.

Relevance to Reddit

News threads give a brand subreddit something timely to debate and show that the community is the place to make sense of developments in its niche.
