Reddit Platform

Definition

A submission made to a subreddit containing text, a link, an image, a video, or a poll. The original post and all subsequent comments and replies form a self-contained conversation called a thread. Also referred to as a submission.

Context

Reddit post formats include Link Posts (sharing an external URL), Text Posts (self-contained written content), Image Posts, Video Posts, Gallery Posts (multiple images), and Poll Posts. Each format has different engagement patterns — Text Posts often generate the deepest comment discussions, while Image and Gallery Posts tend to accumulate faster upvote momentum.

Relevance to Reddit

Threads are the foundational content unit of Reddit's ecosystem. High-performing threads in relevant subreddits surface in Google search results and are cited by AI answer engines, creating durable brand discovery pathways. The goal of most organic programs is to participate in existing high-value threads and, selectively, to create new ones that earn similar reach.
