Rules-Based Criticism Policy
Definition
A moderation policy, as recommended by Karmic, under which a brand subreddit removes critical content only when it violates a published community rule or Reddit's sitewide policy — never merely because it is negative.
Context
The policy should also define who can respond, pin context, lock a thread, or escalate an issue. Good-faith criticism should be answered thoroughly with the original post left intact, and an official response pinned or distinguished when the context warrants it.
Relevance to Reddit
Removing honest criticism damages credibility and can push complaints into communities the brand cannot respond in. A rules-based policy lets a brand subreddit serve as an official venue where good-faith criticism receives a visible, useful response.
