Self-Generating Community
Definition
The second stage of scaling a brand subreddit, as defined by Karmic, beginning at the Crossover: members create more total content than the brand, though the community may still depend on the brand to start most conversations.
Context
Karmic typically targets months five through eight for pushing a community firmly into this stage. Timelines are directional; a community advances when its behavior changes, not when the calendar says it should.
Relevance to Reddit
The Self-Generating stage is where the brand's job begins to change from producing content to encouraging members to produce it. The goal is to grow the member share of contributions and encourage the first member-created threads.
