Subreddit Seeding

Content Creation

Definition

The practice, as defined by Karmic, of publishing an initial mix of useful, discussion-worthy threads in a new brand subreddit — at least 10 per month in the early stage — so that the first real visitors find a community worth joining rather than an empty feed.

Context

Karmic's first-month mix includes a Start Here thread, evergreen educational threads, opinion prompts, category discussions, a transparent feedback thread, a recurring-format pilot, and an AMA or event thread. Threads should be dripped out over weeks, focus on the audience's problems rather than the product, and leave open questions for members to answer.

Relevance to Reddit

Seeding helps Reddit understand what a new community is about and gives visitors enough depth to explore. It must happen before paid promotion or network activation drives traffic to the subreddit.
